The Kv4p HT is a homebrew VHF or UHF radio accessory that plugs into Android phones to enable off-grid peer-to-peer communication. This device serves as a workaround for modern smartphones, which possess the physical hardware for local networking but lack native long-range peer-to-peer radio features. Commenters argue this limitation is intentional, stemming from software restrictions imposed by manufacturers and carriers to maintain communication control and protect their revenue streams.
