A developer has created buildprof, an open-source Linux tracing tool designed to visualize software compile times. The project was initially started to understand Bun's compilation performance and identify build bottlenecks. It provides real-time insights into where time is spent, as recently demonstrated by profiling a clean build of ripgrep.
