Libdeflate has introduced a deliberately impractical DEFLATE level 13 compression option that exhaustively searches encoding choices to maximize size reduction. Although it produces standard output, it runs 56.4 times slower than level 12 for a marginal 0.134% size improvement, making it suitable only for static data compressed once and distributed repeatedly.
